Welcome back to Naper Settlement! Our team has been hard at work creating new tours, programs, and procedures that incorporate social distancing and safety requirements set by federal, local, and state government agencies.  We can’t wait to share Naperville’s history with you in a new way! Before visiting, please read our safety requirements for all visitors.

Step 1: Visitor Must Pre-Register for Museum Admission

Select the day you would like to visit.  Once the admission tickets are in your cart,  please click continue shopping  button to add the timed ticketed experiences below. All admission and timed ticketed experiences are complimentary through August 23, 2020 and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Step 2: Register for Timed Experiences 

The following offerings were created to align with the safety guidelines set in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan and require a timed ticket.  Please register for museum admission prior to choosing timed experiences.

Museum Grounds at Naper Settlement

Guided Walking Tours

Occurs at fifteen minutes past the hour | 48 spots per tour
Learn interesting facts and information about our historical houses and grounds from the people who know it best! These tours will provide an overview of the more than 30 buildings on our 13-acre campus and a demonstration at the Blacksmith Shop.

Martin Mitchell Mansion Exterior

Martin Mitchell Mansion Guided Tour

Occurs at fifteen minutes past the hour | 5 spots per tour
Tour this turn of the century home left to Naperville by Caroline Martin Mitchell. Visit this elegant, yet functional, Victorian home restored to its original splendor and discover why Carrie’s gift was so influential to the story of Naperville.

John Harvard Early Learning Playscape Splashpad

Rita & John Harvard Early Learning Playscape

90 minute reservations | 50 spots per reservation time
Tuesday -Saturday: 10:15–11:45AM, 12:15-1:45PM, 2:15–3:45PM, Sunday: 1:15-2:45PM

Nestled in a replica of a wooden fort, the Playscape is designed for children ages 2 through 7 to explore the outdoors in a setting created just for them. The Playscape features a splashpad, playground, replica covered wagon and more!

Self-Guided Mobile Tours 

Visitors are welcome to take self-guided tours around the 13 acre grounds of Naper Settlement.  Seven mobile tour options are available to view on a smartphone and offer a variety of themes, including architecture, STEM, sustainability and more.  

Picnic Grounds


Picnic tables will be available throughout Naper Settlement’s beautifully manicured 13-acre campus for visitors to utilize during normal operating hours. Located in Downtown Naperville, Naper Settlement is just steps away from many local dining options. Please visit for a full list of restaurants offering carry-out options.

Safety Requirements for Visitors

Help keep everyone safe by following these safety requirements. For more information on safety requirements and on how Naper Settlement has modified all areas of its operation to align with the recommendations set by the state’s Restore Illinois Plan, the City of Naperville, and guidance from health officials , please click here

Face Masks

All visitors must wear a face mask over their nose and mouth in all buildings, when social distancing of six feet cannot be maintained outdoors, and when instructed by Naper Settlement staff.  

All face masks must: 

  • Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth
  • Secure with ties or ear loops, allowing the individual to remain hands-free  
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face 

Social Distancing

All visitors must maintain social distancing guidelines by staying 6 feet from other visitors groups at all times. A visitor group is defined as a group who has been social distancing together.
