Swing back into the 1940s as Naper Settlement transforms into a one-of-a-kind commemoration of WWII on September 25 and 26. Listen to the energizing sounds of the swing and big band era as Andrew & His Two Sisters and Pete Ellman’s Big Band take the stage on Saturday night. Swing dancing classes from Arthur Murray Dance Studio will ensure you’re ready to dance along to classics such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, In the Mood, and more! On Sunday, meet the inspiring people of the past including Rosie the Riveter interpreted by Lynn Rymarz, and join our 100 Rosies photo opp. Learn how the Rockford Peaches Baseball Team, who inspired the film League of their Own, became the most successful All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in the country with Rebecca Tulloch. Following the lecture, attendees are encouraged to stay for a Peaches baseball game. Don your best vintage attire and step into the 1940s as the community commemorates Naperville’s Home Front story with a fun, historic look at the past that is sure to inspire you!
