Adventures Into the Past - Calligraphy Basics & Wax and Seal

Watch historical demonstrations, make crafts, and learn about history at our on-site activities from May through October. These activities are included in general museum admission at Naper Settlement.  Learn more about our admission rates and reserve admission tickets here.

Adventures Into the Past 

Blast back in history with Adventures Into the Past at Naper Settlement! Each month there will be a different theme with crafts, activities, and demonstrations pertaining to the theme.  

May 27

  • Calligraphy Basics: Using a calling card, guests will learn calligraphy basics and practice writing their names.
    • Time: 11AM-12PM and 2-3PM
  • Wax and Seal: We’ll demonstrate how people sealed letters with wax in the 1830s. Guests can stamp a seal to take home.
    • Time: 11AM-12PM and 2-3PM
