Celebrate the Scottish heritage of one of Naperville’s philanthropists, Caroline Martin Mitchell. Learn about the Martin family, Pine Craig Mansion, and Carrie's Gift to the city of Naperville. Enjoy Scottish dancing, a shortbread baking contest, miniature golf, crafts, historic houses, pinewood derby, and more!

Celebrate the Scottish heritage of one of Naperville’s philanthropists, Caroline Martin Mitchell, at Pine Craig Games. Learn about the Martin family, Pine Craig Mansion, and Carrie's Gift to the city of Naperville. Enjoy Scottish dancing by the Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers, a shortbread baking contest, miniature golf, crafts, our historic houses, and more! A highlight of this event will be a pinewood derby. Entries for the shortbread baking contest and pinewood derby are to be made at home prior to the event (see below for more details).


Pinewood Derby: Pinewood derby participants will need to complete a separate online registration form (the link to the pinewood derby registration form will be included in your order confirmation email). For more information about the pinewood derby, please email maronicj@naperville.il.us


Shortbread Baking Contest: All bakers for the shortbread baking contest must be pre-registered by Friday, May 13, 2022. To pre-register or for more information about the shortbread baking contest, please call the Learning Experiences Team Leader, Jackie Maronic, at 630-420-6015 or email maronicj@naperville.il.us. You will need to provide the name of your recipe, the baker’s name, phone number, and email address. First, second, and third place winners for each age category and prizes will be announced from the Paw Paw Post Office porch at 3PM. Winners will be photographed and posted on Naper Settlement’s Facebook. Judging criteria for the contest: First Impression (Appearance:  Judges will rate the shortbread on overall aesthetic), Closer Inspection (Judges will rate based on taste and texture), and Overall Impression (Judges will taste the whole and judge them based on flavor, creativity, and lasting impression).
