HERstory Nomination Lourdes Chew

"I am Lourdes Singson- Chew, a Community contributor of Naperville for over 20 years from the Philippines. I have been active with the District 203 Home and School from Mill Street School days up to high school.  I helped organized the Multi-cultural night at Mill Street for many years where we fostered diversity and had the late Mayor Pradel participate in “Read Aloud.” At Jefferson Junior, I organized 6th grade parent to parent events, 5k race (committee member) and Restaurant Night fundraising. At Naperville North, I coordinated parent to parent networking events for college. In my neighborhood, I have planned Earth day clean up, planted a butterfly garden and is on my 6th year as a Board member.  I volunteer at St. Thomas The Apostle Church as a Religious Education teacher’s aide, Hessed House volunteer and is one of the organizers of the annual Filipino Advent Mass. I worked as Judge of Election in DuPage county. I was the Secretary for Ride Assist Naperville, a non-profit agency providing free medical rides for three years. I am on my 3rd year as a member of the City of Naperville Senior Task Force working to advocate for seniors. One of our initiatives is the Senior of the Year award which started in 2018. I am currently involved with the Indiana University Parent Advisory Board. I had numerous opportunities to share time, talent and treasure while raising a family and working as a Dietitian. I am truly proud to call Naperville my HOME away from home."
