Learn how the pioneers survived in Naperville before running water and electricity as you train for survival in nature, help others in a disaster, and encounter some wild animals!
Summer Slices
Starting July 7, Naper Settlement will offer a new Summer Slices program for children and guardians. From DIY toy-making to a jelly fish adventure, these short programs aim to educate and inspire with hands-on activities designed with social distancing in mind.
Summer Slices takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in July from 1-2:30 PM
Please Note: a maximum of eight participants will be able to participate in each summer slices program. Please arrive early.

Double bubble, toil and…wait, there’s not toil and trouble here! It’s a Summer Slice! Get ready to create DIY concoctions sure to help you relax and feel your best.
Weave it to Me!
Explore our grounds for textile treasures of the past, and then you’ll make your own as you learn about the wonders of weaving. This Summer Slice will teach you how you can use an important historical skill today!
Mind Your Beeswax!
You’ll be buzzing about this Summer Slice! We’ll learn all about bees, how they help us, and how we can help them! “Bee” ready for a fun time exploring how bees have been helping people in Illinois for hundreds of years.

Calling all Summer Slice explorers! Have you ever wondered how a compass works? We’re going global as we study compasses, maps, and more. Join us for a geocaching adventure and learn the secret in the sky.
Mammals and Me
Have you ever wondered if animals thought like you? Well, we may never know the answer to that question, but we do know what makes them so similar to humans. During this Summer Slice, you’ll learn about what it takes to be a mammal and about some mammals you see everyday.

You’ll never be bored with this Summer Slice! We’re going DIY and making our toys. The sky’s the limit as we discover how to create our own fun with things you have around the house!

Be sure bring your sea legs to this Summer Slice! We’re going under the sea to learn about the differences between oceans and Lake Michigan. We’ll also discover some fishy characters along the way.
