Water Main and Electric Utility Infrastructure Project Continues
Work will enhance system performance in downtown area

NAPERVILLE, Ill.- A water main and electric infrastructure improvement project that will enhance system performance and reliability in the downtown district is continuing on Webster Street.

Phase I work, which involved construction on Aurora Avenue and Main Street, is completed.

Phase II work is currently underway on Webster Street. Visitors to Naper Settlement might encounter some road closures while traveling south of Aurora Avenue or north of Hillside Road. During Phase II’s construction on Webster Street and Hillside Road, utilities are being installed on the east side of Webster and the south side of Hillside.  Traffic within a particular block may be restricted to one-way when there is construction activity on that block. On-street parking restrictions will be in place during this phase of work. Phase II is set to be completed by June 28th. Parkway restoration activities for the overall project are scheduled to be completed by Fall 2008.

The entire project consists of installing approximately 3,000 feet of 12-inch water main and 3,400 feet of electric duct bank to upgrade the existing utilities in the area. The contract was awarded to Bolder Contractors Inc. of Deerfield, Ill.

“Project completion incentives and penalties have been incorporated into the contract in an effort to reduce the overall timeline and minimize disruption to area residents and businesses,” Senior Civil Engineer Jim O’Neal said. “Access to driveways will be maintained throughout the construction project.”
