Savers Thrift Stores
was a sponsor for All Hallows Eve, and Naper Settlement is excited to continue our partnership. Savers is offering a financial contribution of $1,000 if Naper Settlement donates at least 400 bags of clothes, toys, and small household items. We are asking our staff, volunteers, members and community supporters to help us reach this goal. If we are successful, the money will be used to help build the "The Rita (Fredenhagen) and John Harvard Early Learning Playscape," an early childhood education area to be built within Fort Payne.
The donation drive begins
Monday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 6
. Items should be placed in kitchen garbage bags (about 13 or 14 gallon bags) and dropped off at the Carriage House (located near the Martin Mitchell Mansion) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
There will be signs and a sign-in sheet inside the Carriage House. After dropping off a donation, please write your name on the sign-in sheet. For more information, call 630.420.6010 or e-mail

Importance of Donations and Sponsorships
Through your contributions, the Naperville Heritage Society is able to preserve our community’s history and present it at Naper Settlement for thousands of visitors to enjoy. A unique educational and cultural resource, the museum presents the early heritage of Naperville, Illinois, illustrating the development of a Midwestern agrarian community into the fourth largest city in the state. A hands-on learning laboratory, Naper Settlement interprets and recreates domestic, craft and commercial life in an interactive setting.
Every year, more than 35,000 children come to Naper Settlement to experience life in the 19th century. The education these children receive through the museum's programs and activities, in addition to the buildings they tour, would not be possible without your contributions. The programs align with the lessons they are learning in the classroom.
The exhibits at Naper Settlement are the result of the community’s support through generous donations from individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations. We preserve the past for future generations thanks to the generosity of our donors. Alongside its educational goals, Naper Settlement maintains its ongoing commitment to the high-quality collection, preservation and display of historical objects and buildings. These twin missions combine to create a responsive, evolving institution that seeks to meet the changing needs of its community.
Naper Settlement is one of only 26 museums in Illinois, two in DuPage County and the only outdoor history museum in Illinois accredited by the
American Alliance of Museums
. AAM accreditation brings national recognition to a museum for its commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement — all in order to provide the best possible service to the public.
