Artifact of the Month
This ledger was used by the members of the Naperville Lyceum. The Lyceum was an informal gathering of men who met to discuss and debate questions and topics for the edification of the community. Topics ranged from culinary tastes, to governmental issues, religious topics, citizenship, economics and literature. Members would divide into teams, debate, and decide who won the argument. The Naperville Lyceum met during the months of October through March in the years 1836 through 1843.
