Cub Scout Belt Loop Bonanza - CLOSED
Saturday, April 29
Tiger, Wolf and Bear Scouts can visit Naper Settlement for this Belt Loop Bonanza. Scouts can pick up their instructions at check in, visit stations, tour buildings, play games and complete requirements to earn their belt loop. This program is now closed.
earn Tiger Tales Tiger Scouts will create a tall tale with their den based on pioneer objects, then they can create their own stories to share. Scouts will learn about the story of Johnny Appleseed and make an apple magnet from tree branches to take home. They will also join a sing along of popular folk songs. Scouts will complete the belt loop by exploring Naper Settlement and tour a variety of buildings from different time periods.
earn Finding Your Way Wolf Scouts will develop mapping skills by finding their town on an Illinois map, creating a map with symbols that will help someone find a location and locating on a world map the origin of a nutritious snack they will receive. Scouts will learn how to identify a compass rose, how to determine directions using a compass and go on a scavenger hunt to find an object at Naper Settlement. Scouts will hike using a map and compass.
earn Marble Madness Bear Scouts will learn about the history of marbles and three different games. They will play a game learning and using slang words associated with marbles. Scouts will receive three marbles and decorate their own marble bag. They will also create a new marbles game with rules that they can play at their next den meeting. Scouts can then race their marbles at Naper Settlement using a marble race track and design a cardboard marble maze with dividers and obstacles to take home.
